Top 5 Tuesday – Top 5 Tropes

Although I love Tuesdays….. I wish Friday would hurry up! But, at least we have top 5 Tuesday today!

Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah – The Bionic Bookworm. If you want to take part, head over to her site to find out how!

This week, the topic is Top 5 Tropes We Want More Of. At first, I thought this would be a tricky one, but when I started thinking of it, I found it SO easy to pick my top 5!

So, here goes…

Lovable Dogs Who Really Are A Mans Best Friend

Okay, I LOVE dogs. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM. I honestly wish I could quit my finance job and work with dogs all day every day, so naturally I’m a lover of any heart wrenching book about a dog, even if it makes me ugly cry.

Whilst we’re on the subject, I’ve recently started reading The Art of Racing In The Rain and I’m only about 10 pages in and I’ve cried already. But I love it.

Moody Older Character Who IS Changed By A Child

Another one of my favourite. Think ‘The Five People You Meet In Heaven’. I just love it. Can we have more of this please!?

Unlikely Hero

I mean….. everyone likes an unlikely hero, right!?

Bad-Ass Female Characters

I love bad-ass characters anyway, but some of my favourites are female (Katniss Everdeen, Lisbeth Salander etc.)

Role Reversal

Innocent child turns evil. A charming character turns bad. A villain becomes a friend. Serial killer who has some redeeming qualities.

Role Reversal usually means a plot twist which is an added bonus!

  1. Oooh, these are great! I didn’t write anything for this topic cuz i couldn’t think of anything, haha 😀
But i do like the moody old people + unlikely heroes a lot too.
Badass females as well of course, but for me personally it doesn’t seem there’s a shortage of them 😀
