I was nominated by the lovely Leetha Rose over at Life Should Be Lit! I’m sat in my office at the moment wishing that today would hurry the hell up so I can start the weekend, so I think it’s a great idea to procrastinate and do this tag instead of doing my work, right!?
- Have you ever damaged a book?
I’ll be honest, I damage a lot of books. When the Kindle first came out, I was really stubborn about sticking to reading physical books, so I’d always have a book on me. Naturally, they got a bit damaged.
In addition, I always dog ear my books. I know I shouldn’t but it’s a bad habit of mine. I always start of using bookmarks but then I forget about them and go back to dog earring!
- Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
Never intentionally! I know I’ve dog eared a few books and then had a panic when I realised and tried to smooth the pages out haha. If I ever badly damaged a borrowed book, I’d buy the person a new one!
- How long does it take you to read a book?
Hmmm, it really depends on the book. I can finish a good crime/thriller in 2 days. But some books take me MONTHS (cough cough A Little Life)
- Books that you haven’t finished?
The last book I couldn’t finish was ‘The Moby Dick Blues’. It sounded promising, but it was just so so long.
- Hyped/popular books you didn’t like?
Twilight! I still don’t get what the hype was. I also thought Caraval was a bit disappointing but I’ve decided to persevere with the next book in the series.
- Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you’re reading?
Yes. My finance books! No one wants me to tell them how thrilling my investment book is…… so I just keep shhh haha.
- How many books do you own?
I have no idea. But considering how many books I’ve read, I don’t own that many. Unless I absolutely LOVE the book, I tend to give them away to charity or community book shelves. Sharing is caring and all that…
- Are you a fast or slow reader?
Normally fast! But again, it depends on the book.
- Do you like to buddy read?
Hmmm, nope I’ll pass on this. I like being able to read at my own pace. And as much as I like talking to people about books… I’d hate it if someone accidentally spoiled a book for me by telling me what happened. On the flip side of that, I’d hate having to wait for someone to be at the same point as me so we could talk about it.
- If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?
Probably Harry Potter. I remember reading it for the first time and I was amazed. I can’t remember ever getting that feeling with any other book.
